The following persons are citizens of Seychelles:
- Every person who was born in Seychelles prior to Independence Day (28th June 1976) and was on the day prior to Independence Day, still a British Subject citizen of UK and colonies;
- Every person who before Independence Day was registered or naturalised in Seychelles as a British Subject citizen of UK and colonies;
- Every person who was born outside Seychelles before Independence Day and was a citizen of UK and colonies and his father became a citizen of Seychelles on Independence Day as per (i) & (ii);
- Every person who was born outside Seychelles before Independence Day (29th June 1976), who did not become a citizen on Independence Day and was a resident in Seychelles on 5th June 1979, and whose parents or grandparents was born in Seychelles.
- Every woman who is married to a person before Independence Day who became a citizen of Seychelles on Independence Day and she was registered as British Subject citizen of UK and colonies on the ground of that marriage;
- Every person who on or after Independence Day, until 4th June 1979 was born in Seychelles;
- A person who was born outside Seychelles after Independence Day and before 5th June 1979 and his father was born in Seychelles and became a citizen of Seychelles on Independence Day;
- A person who was born in Seychelles on or after 5th June 1979 and at the date of his birth one of his parent is a citizen of Seychelles;
- A person born outside Seychelles on or after 5th June 1979 and one of his parent is a citizen of Seychelles at the date of his birth;
- Any person who has been registered or naturalised as a citizen of the Republic Seychelles.
(A certificate to that effect is issued to the person).
